As part of our goal to bring #health and #education to artisanal mining communities, this week we trained students, teachers, and parents in the use of new drinking fountains with water purification systems, installed in three key educational centers in this hamlet: the initial education institution N° 255, the primary education institution N° 24397 “Cristo Rey,” and the secondary education institution “Jorge Meier.”

These systems, equipped with the innovative “BluAct” technology developed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich and based on milk protein, ensure 100% potable and contaminant-free water, including the removal of heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, and mercury, for over 400 beneficiaries, including students and teachers.

Each drinking fountain includes spare parts for maintenance and continuous use at no cost for three years, ensuring the system’s durability and efficiency. Additionally, the low energy consumption of the purification equipment contributes to the sustainability of the project.

We thank our strategic partner Acquavid Perú, the Santa Lucía District Municipality, the Parents’ Association, and all participants for their invaluable support in making this significant advancement in water and health possible.

We plan to implement this project in the hamlet of Secocha, in the province of Camaná (Arequipa), to benefit a total of over 1,700 people with quality drinking water.

With our “Water to Educate” project, we maintain our commitment to continue transforming lives, this time through access to clean drinking water for our students.

On June 3rd, in partnership with the NGO Enseña Perú, we launched the innovative training program called “UGEL Empowered” with the participation of 14 educational specialists from UGEL Caravelí, in the city of Atico (Arequipa).

This intervention aims to provide key tools in soft skills, application management, and the use of artificial intelligence to improve #productivity and #efficiency in pedagogical management. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen the organizational capacity of the #UGELs by optimizing time management to enhance school support and monitoring activities.

Our program includes a series of in-person and virtual workshops, project implementation follow-up, and results review. “UGEL Empowered” is part of our systemic educational improvement plan in the provinces of Camaná, Caravelí, and Condesuyos, in the Arequipa region.

We continue to make a positive impact on the education of artisanal mining communities in our country!

We are pleased to share that we have successfully completed maintenance and infrastructure improvement works, as well as the delivery of multimedia equipment and furniture, at the primary and secondary educational center N° 40194 Ricardo Palma, located in the settlement of Secocha, in the district of Mariano Nicolás Valcárcel, province of Camaná (Arequipa).

This intervention aims to modernize and improve the educational infrastructure conditions for the benefit of more than 1200 primary and secondary level students. The improvements made include: comprehensive painting of the educational center and improvement of metal structures, complete overhaul of the electrical and lighting system with the use of solar LED systems, rehabilitation of sports courts, enhancement of the water reserve and supply system, replacement and protection of windows, provision of desks and chairs for students, as well as the delivery of laptops and installation of interactive digital whiteboards with multimedia projectors.

These works are the result of trust and coordinated efforts with the Regional Education Management of Arequipa (#GREA), the #UGEL Camaná, the management of the Ricardo Palma educational center, and the Parent-Teacher Association (#APAFA).

We thank the organizations, officials, and parents for their contributions to making this project a reality for the benefit of our students! With this achievement, we reaffirm our commitment to generating a sustainable impact on the education of artisanal mining communities in our country.

We continue to contribute to the educational development of artisanal mining communities! From April 26th to 28th, over 20 teachers and specialists from public educational centers in the settlements of the provinces of Camaná, Condesuyos, and Caravelí in the Arequipa region participated in the kickoff training of the “¡Qué Maestro!” Program, an initiative promoted by Fidamar and the NGO Enseña Perú, held in Lima.

This program is part of Fidamar’s comprehensive education support plan, which will last approximately 9 months and benefit students in the settlements of Secocha, Chala, Iquipí, and Ispacas.

We are proud to collaborate with committed educators who wish to make a significant difference in the lives of their students and in the development of their communities. This effort was made possible thanks to the valuable strategic partnership we maintain with the NGO Enseña Perú. Together, we are working to provide support and resources to teachers who face unique challenges in educational environments close to artisanal mining.

¡Qué Maestro! is a special program of continuous training and accompaniment that complements the efforts of the Ministry of Education to strengthen the pedagogical and leadership capacities of teachers within the framework of Good Teaching Performance.

With the goal of providing digital education access to underserved communities, we are pleased to announce the launch of the “Huanca Conectada” project, funded and executed by Fidamar. This project aims to provide educational resources through satellite internet to the educational centers of the Huanca settlement in the district of Santa Lucía, province of Lucanas, Ayacucho region.

Through the innovative educational platform Mundo Uayki, more than 350 users, including students and teachers, will directly benefit from this project, thus helping to bridge educational connectivity gaps in the district.

The equipment has been installed in the primary school N° 24397 “Cristo Rey” and the secondary school “Jorge Meier”, and training has been provided to teachers and students on its use. The sustainability of the project has been ensured through an interinstitutional cooperation agreement with the Local Educational Management Unit (UGEL) Lucanas.

We would like to express our gratitude to our strategic partner, Uayki Technologies, for implementing the technological solution that makes this project possible. We are excited about the positive impact “Huanca Conectada” will have on the educational community.

At Fidamar, we remain committed to innovation in improving and reducing educational gaps in the communities of artisanal miners in our country.

Thanks to our alliance with the San Juan de Dios Clinic in Arequipa, we were able to provide free medical care to more than 2,300 vulnerable residents of the Atico district, Caravelí province (Arequipa). These services were offered at Miguel Grau School on Friday, February 23, and Saturday, February 24.

Through the itinerant campaign “Mission Health Messengers,” we provided free health services with the assistance of about 40 healthcare professionals in the fields of general medicine, orthopedics, traumatology, gastroenterology, dentistry, gynecology, ultrasound, pediatrics, optometry, and laboratory. Additionally, free medicines were distributed for treatments.

The Atico District Municipality, the Atico Sub-Prefecture, the Atico Health Center, the Caravelí UGEL, and the National Police of Peru (PNP) also participated in this campaign. The support from local authorities has been essential to exceed the projected services and ensure the respective follow-up for cases requiring future attention.

We will continue working to promote equitable access to healthcare for artisanal mining communities in our country.
