Sustainable Commitment: Fidamar Signs Key Agreements to Improve Health and Education in Mining Communities

To contribute to closing gaps in health and education in artisanal mining communities, in line with Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 4 (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, and Quality Education), Fidamar has entered into four institutional agreements.

The signed agreements involve two with the UGEL Camaná, one with the UGEL Caravelí, and one with the Camaná-Caravelí Health Network for the maintenance and supply of specialized equipment in educational and health centers located in the Arequipa region.

The Initial Education Centers Secocha and Carlos Portocarrero Dongo, both located in the populated area of Secocha in the province of Camaná, and the Initial Education Center Santa Rosa, located in the district of Atiquipa in the Caravelí province, will benefit from these works. Additionally, maintenance will also be carried out at the Iquipí Health Center, located in the district of Río Grande, Condesuyos province.

The upcoming works, set to begin in the coming weeks, aim to preserve and improve the infrastructure of educational and health centers, ensuring safety, and enhancing teaching environments and equipment for over 300 children aged 3 to 5, as well as providing medical care for hundreds of people of all ages.

“We are very excited and grateful to FIDAMAR for the continuous support it provides to our students and the education in our district,” stated Professor Felícitas Velásquez Álvarez, Director of the Santa Rosa Initial Education Center in Atiquipa.

Fidamar, a non-profit association formed by Dynacor Group and PX Precinox, is committed to contributing to the well-being and sustainable development of vulnerable populations in artisanal mining communities in Peru.

The International Fund for Artisanal Miners Assistance

The International Fund for Artisanal Miners Aid (Fidamar) provided humanitarian assistance to those affected and displaced in Secocha following the landslides in the Mariano Nicolás Valcárcel district, Camaná province (Arequipa).

The donation of blankets, disposable diaper packages, and sanitary towels was channeled through the District Municipality of Mariano Nicolás Valcárcel.

Contribution to Early Childhood Education

As part of our contribution to early childhood education in our country, Fidamar delivered 1025 school kits to children from 33 early education institutions in 6 districts located in the provinces of Camaná and Caravelí, in Arequipa.

Each school kit includes a backpack, school supplies, and a first aid kit. These donations were made in coordination with educational authorities in Camaná and Caravelí during 2022, who expressed their gratitude.
